We believe life is richer when it's full of surprises.
So we design handcrafted, stress-free mystery trips through Japan — every stay, every experience arranged before you land, every place somewhere we've walked, eaten, or stayed ourselves. And as you discover new sides of Japan, the people you meet see their own country anew.
We keep where we go off the record. The quiet places stay quiet, the encounters stay genuine, and the surprise stays yours.
Meet Yuriko, your chief trip designer and founder. Who we are, why we keep our destinations off the record, and what happens after you press "Design My Trip."
"I don't think I could have done as well as you did, finding the experiences and the places that we experienced. Just all the little details — it was so special."
Answer the Mystery Trip Questionnaire — a focused 10 minutes on your ideal trip: interests, pace, and just as importantly, what to skip. Been to Japan before? Tell us. We'll go where you haven't. Within three days (Omakase: within one working day), you'll receive your proposal with the first hints. We share your destination details and full itinerary about three days before departure.
Ask us anything first, then book when you're ready: 30% now and the balance 60 days before departure, or pay in full. We arrange accommodations, long-distance transit, experiences, and your Taste-Local dinners; for every other meal, your itinerary carries three of our own picks. You book your international flights, send us the details, and we shape the journey around them.
A month out, your preparation guide arrives: what to pack, which apps to download, the Japan essentials. About three days before departure, we share your destination details and full itinerary privately with you. Read it all at once, or day by day.
Waiting at your first hotel is a printed guidebook made just for your trip, far more than an itinerary. From which train door to board and the stop before yours, to where to eat and how to behave in an onsen, it holds everything you need on the ground. You'll keep it in hand from your first train to your last.
Look inside the Travel Bible →This is a self-guided journey, not a group tour. Everything is planned and booked for you.
You travel at your own pace, with your travel bible as your companion.

"Overall, I think your team did a fantastic job. Even though I spent 3 weeks already in Japan, the final week was memorable. You fit in so many meaningful experiences with the budget I gave you, and I felt it was planned with the utmost care. I will definitely let you plan another trip for me in Japan when I return."

"All the people were talking about doing Disney, and I was like, I don't want to do Disney."
"The hotel/room is beautiful! The package you put together for us is beyond our expectations!"

"The personal guidebook she crafted and delivered on our first night stay was our bible… We took trains and local buses with confidence… local parks in the countryside absolutely chock full of cherry blossoms and only a handful of people."
Your dates and trip length, your budget and the standard of every stay, your pace, what's included, our cancellation terms — and hints of what's ahead.
The destinations themselves. They will be shared privately about three days before departure, with full details in your travel bible.
Bullet trains, domestic flights, ferries — reserved ahead.
Matched to your questionnaire; we've stayed in every one.
At least one hands-on activity a week, matched to your interests.
A local guide in print: routes, etiquette, restaurant picks, emergency info.

Either Taste-Local (at least two dinners a week booked in advance, and three recommendations for every other meal) or Taste-Local Every Night (every dinner chosen and booked for you). You choose when you apply. Breakfast and lunch are three recommendations each, either way.
WhatsApp plus an emergency phone line, throughout your trip.
Not included: international flights, travel insurance, and meals outside your dinner plan.

Yuriko was born in Tokyo and has eaten at more than 5,000 restaurants across Japan. She chooses where you eat.
Not the places on the lists. Japan's real strength is not its famous counters but its ordinary standard, and the difference between a good meal and one you will still be describing next year is usually a matter of knowing which eight seats to sit in, in a town you would have had no reason to stop in.
Some of those places take bookings only by telephone, one month ahead to the day, in Japanese. Some take them only from people they already know. That is the part we do for you.
Every trip includes dinners chosen and booked in advance, and three specific recommendations for every other meal, near where you will actually be that evening. You pick how far it goes: Taste-Local, where a few dinners a week are booked and the rest of your evenings are yours, or Taste-Local Every Night, where we take all of them.
See how the evenings work →A mystery to you is not an improvisation. Every night's stay is booked before you land, your travel bible tells you which platform, which train, which door — and if anything ever feels off, we're one WhatsApp message away, day or night. Many of our travelers are women traveling alone; the questionnaire is where you tell us anything that matters.
